How to Update Your Site Tagline and Favicon
Use this guide when you want to update the short WordPress tagline for a site, or change the favicon/site icon that appears in browser tabs.
What this guide covers
- Opening a generated site from your 1ClickWebsite dashboard
- Copying the WordPress admin password without exposing it
- Logging into WordPress admin
- Opening Appearance > Customize > Site Identity
- Updating the site tagline
- Uploading or selecting a site icon/favicon
- Publishing the changes
Before you start
You need access to the site in your 1ClickWebsite dashboard. Open the site details page, copy the WordPress admin password, and use the WP Admin button to log in.
For the favicon, WordPress recommends a square image that is at least 512 by 512 pixels. A PNG or JPG usually works best. If WordPress shows a crop error when using an existing media item, upload a square 512 by 512 PNG and select that instead.
Steps
- Open your 1ClickWebsite dashboard and choose the site you want to edit.
- Open the site details page and copy the WordPress admin password.
- Click WP Admin and log in with the WordPress username and copied password.
- In WordPress, open Appearance > Customize.
- Open Site Identity.
- Update the Tagline field if you want to change the short site description.
- Click Select Site Icon or Change image to choose a favicon.
- Upload or select a square icon image, then confirm the selection.
- Click Publish to save the changes.
Notes
The site icon may not visually appear in every browser tab immediately because browsers often cache favicons. If the saved icon does not show right away, refresh the site or open it in a private window.
If you cannot log into WordPress, cannot find the site in your dashboard, or get a site-specific WordPress error while saving, contact support so we can review the site.
