How to Update Your Site Tagline and Favicon

Use this guide when you want to update the short WordPress tagline for a site, or change the favicon/site icon that appears in browser tabs.

Before you start

You need access to the site in your 1ClickWebsite dashboard. Open the site details page, copy the WordPress admin password, and use the WP Admin button to log in.

For the favicon, WordPress recommends a square image that is at least 512 by 512 pixels. A PNG or JPG usually works best. If WordPress shows a crop error when using an existing media item, upload a square 512 by 512 PNG and select that instead.

Steps

1. Open your site details

Open the site details page in your 1ClickWebsite dashboard. Copy the WordPress admin password if you need it to log in.

2. Open WordPress admin

Click WP Admin and log in with the WordPress username and password.

3. Open the Customizer

Hover over Appearance in the WordPress sidebar, then click Customize.

4. Open Site Identity

Click Site Identity.

5. Update the tagline or site icon

Enter a new Tagline if you want to change the short site description. Under Site Icon, click Change image or Select Site Icon to choose a favicon.

6. Choose your favicon

Select an image from the Media Library, or upload a square image. Click Select and confirm any crop prompt.

7. Publish the changes

Click Publish to save the tagline and favicon.

Notes

The site icon may not visually appear in every browser tab immediately because browsers often cache favicons. If the saved icon does not show right away, refresh the site or open it in a private window.

If you cannot log into WordPress, cannot find the site in your dashboard, or get a site-specific WordPress error while saving, contact support so we can review the site.
